The Bakewell Food Festival
If you’re free on Sunday May 1st, head to The Bakewell Food Festival where you’ll find fun for all the family. Bakewell itself is a beautiful riverside town and there will be over 60 stalls (selling locally made food, drink, gifts and crafts) dotted throughout these historic streets. You’ll also find cookery demos, road shows and donkey rides for the children. Sounds great, doesn’t it? And don’t forget, when you want great local food, we’re here too!
Magic and Fun
Keep the kids entertained with a trip to Matlock Farm on May Day Bank Holiday Monday. Magician and Children’s entertainer Roger Dunn will be running magic and puppetry shows throughout the day and kids can also have a go at lamb bottle feeding and even meerkat feeding! Oh, and there will be sheep and ferret racing too, as well as the chance to meet some wallabies.

Go under siege at Bolsover Castle and step back in history! Children and adults alike will love watching sworn enemies – the Roundheads and Cavaliers – get ready for a Civil War battle. Whose side will you be on?
