6 ways to enjoy these Easter activities in Derby​ with fun, family and food

1. Easter Adventures at Calke Abbey

Kickstart your Easter activities with a visit to the "unstately" stately home, Calke Abbey. This year, you can follow Peggy the Portland sheep on an exciting Easter trail. Spring is a special time at Calke as it brings newborn lambs to their rare-breed flock, and the trail is the perfect way to see the estate in bloom.

There are two routes to choose from:

  • The Long Trail (approx. 1.8 miles): Perfect for older explorers, winding through the Parkland and Calke Explore with racing and egg hunting.
  • The Short Trail (approx. 0.5 miles): An accessible route suitable for "little legs," exploring the Pleasure Grounds and Stableyards with fun Easter games.

Date: 21st March - 12th April 2026

Time: 10am – 4:30pm (Eggs must be collected by 5pm)

Entry: £3.50 per trail (Normal admission prices apply). Includes a trail sheet, bunny ears, and a dairy or vegan/Free From* chocolate egg.Location: Ticknall, Derby, Derbyshire, DE73 7LE

2. Kedleston Hall Easter Egg Hunt

Enjoy a trip to the picturesque Kedleston Hall for an Easter Egg hunt organised by the National Trust. Let the little ones explore this exciting quest to find hidden treasures amongst the gardens and historic estate, a great Easter activity in Derby for all the family. You can also follow the Short Walk with 10 fun activity stations, from spring charades to egg relays and bunny hops, perfect for keeping everyone entertained before claiming a well-earned chocolate egg.

Date: 2nd April - 6th April

Time: 10am - 3pm (Last entry at 3pm)

Entry: £3.50 per trail (Admission to the hall/parkland applies). Includes a trail sheet, bunny ears, and a chocolate egg (vegan and Free From* options available, made with responsibly sourced cocoa).

3. The Alpaca Farm

Step into the fun world of alpacas at Clary Meadows Alpacas. Take a guided tour of the farm, interact with these adorable creatures, and learn interesting facts about their lifestyle. It's a unique and educational experience, bound to leave a lasting impression and create great memories.

Jumpin Fun soft play

4. Jumpin Fun & Soft Play Centre

Let the kids unleash their energy at Jumpin Fun, Derby's popular soft play centre. With a range of exciting activities including trampolines, slides, and ball pits, there's no shortage of entertainment here. It's the perfect venue for some indoor fun, rain or shine, this Easter.

5. Conkers Easter Holiday Activities 

If you’re looking for a day out that will truly "blow your socks off," Conkers has a massive line-up of immersive activities this spring. From splashing around at the Cove to exploring enchanted forests, it’s a full-throttle adventure in the heart of the National Forest.

Because Conkers often sells out during the holidays, we highly recommend booking in advance to secure your spot.

  • Included in your admission: Enjoy "Hop To It" Ranger activities, "Super Crackin'" amphitheatre shows, and daily crafts in the Creative Corner.
  • The Adventure Zones: Explore the Fairy Labyrinth, Twisty Towers, and the Wobbly Bridges. If it's a warm day, don't forget a towel for the Conkers Cove Splash Park!

6. Choccy Woccy Easter Event

Get ready for a chocolatey Easter adventure at Bluebell Dairy! From the wacky fun of Choccy Woccy’s Doo Dah Machine and the mischievous Belgie Bunny, to bottle-feeding baby animals and tackling the Easter Trail, there’s something for everyone. Enjoy sheep racing, chick cuddles, bouncy fun, and a free small tub of Bluebell Crèam Egg Ice Cream! (Dairy-free alternatives are available!) with every child’s ticket. With new treats, cuddly animals, and non-stop springtime fun, it’s the perfect family day out.
