Let’s get to know Zan Fish’s Stenson manager, George, a bit better shall we? Join us as we learn about his day to day duties as a manager, his favourite Zan Fish menu item and more, in this month’s meet the team manager spotlight.
1. Hi George, let’s start off simple shall we? How long have you managed Zan Fish Stenson?
I’ve managed the Stenson store for 19 years. It’s definitely a tough, but equally rewarding job and I wouldn’t have done it for so long if I didn’t love it. When I had to meet the team and understood the love the locals had for Zan Fish, I fell in love with it too and the rest is history really.
2. What are your day to day duties as a manager at Zan Fish?
As a manager you’re not exempt from any job really. My day to day duties are very varied, from serving customers, sweeping to frying, if my team needs my help they’ll get it.
Anything and everything, you can pretty much name it and I’ll do it to ensure customers have the best experience possible, the staff are happy and things run smoothly.
3. What’s your favourite thing about working at Zan Fish?
Without a doubt the customers make it. If it weren’t for them we wouldn’t be where we are now and there’s just so many different characters that meet our team and just have a laugh with us whilst getting their food which makes our day.
4. What’s your favourite Zan Fish menu item?
I’m a simple man and I believe you can never go wrong with our chips. Cooked to perfection, crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside - they’re a bit like me really!
5. What are your hobbies outside of work?
I’m a keen golfer, as are a few of my colleagues and I’ve played with Theo, the Heatherton manager at Zan Fish, a couple of times as he likes a good game of golf too. It’s nice to get out of a work setting and have a bit of sporting fun.
6. Do you have any hidden talents/a party trick?
I actually don’t have a party trick or hidden talent, if I’m honest. What you see is pretty much what you get with me.
